During a game of poker, players use cards to try to form the best hand possible. Each hand is made up of five cards. Players can win a pot by making the best hand or by bluffing.

Players make bets in three rounds. First, a player can choose to call or raise. If they choose to raise, they will add more chips to the pot. They may also choose to fold. If a player chooses to fold, they will lose the bet. If they choose to call, the other players must match the bet.

The dealer will then deal cards to each player. Each player will have one face-down card and one face-up card. The player to the left of the big blind will be the first to act. The player to the left of the small blind will be the next to act.

The first player to act will make the minimum bet in the first betting interval. If he does not make the minimum bet, he can check. If he does make the minimum bet, he may choose to raise or check.

The second round of betting begins after the flop. Players can choose to check, raise, or fold. Normally, betting is done in clockwise order. If a player folds, they lose their bet and can no longer compete for the pot.

The third round of betting occurs after the turn. Players can choose to check, raise, call, or fold. The player to the left of the big pot will be the first to act.
